The Returned is an American supernatural drama television series developed by Carlton Cuse as an adaptation of the French series Les Revenants, which was broadcast internationally with the title The Returned. Dirk was hired to design and create 4 hyperrealistic drawings of some of the main characters, which were then used for advertising the TV-Show. An online video "behind the scene" was also produced.
The talents drawn by Dirk are India Ennenga and Sophie Lowe, Sandrine Holt and Dylan Kingwell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Mat Vairo, Leah Gibson and Rhys Ward.
Find out more about it and see the artworks on the project page. For more infos on the series go to www.aetv.com

Just a quick update on an exciting and exhausting month! As you may have seen on his facebook page, Dirk has been busy exhibiting in both Paris and Tokyo as part of a promotion for Waterman's new Blue Obsession pen collection. He drew a large scale blue ball pen portrait, which is available to win (competition is only open for residents of Japan and France) - details of the competition can be seen on the Waterman website. There you will also find a promotion video together with a time lapse video of the drawing. The exhibitions were a great success and Dirk enjoyed doing some live ball pen drawings at both.
Dirk had the chance to visit lots of art museums and galleries on his travels - he was particularily impressed by some of the amazing art, that Tokyo has to offer. In fact, he was lucky enough to be able to meet up with some of the artists behind these masterpieces, including Osamu Obi and Kenichiro Ishiguro. It was a real highlight of Dirk's trip to learn and share tips and techniques with the other artists. So, after a manically busy month he is happy to be back at home in the studio.
The visits to France and Japan were hugely inspiring and he managed to get loads of photos to give him ideas for future pieces. Dirk is now ready to get back to finish some works in progress, and eager to start on some new work, too. We will keep you updated on these and also about limited edition prints in the next newsletter.
